Seal Online

Seal Online (씰 온라인) is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing game, developed by the Korean company - YNK Partners Inc. As of 7 February 2008, official versions of the game are available in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, and the United States.

The English version of Seal Online was expected to be released in Q3 of Year 2005 when Grigon Entertainment announced that there would be an English version of Seal Online. An English website was made by them. However within 2 months, the site closed down and there were no more news of an English translated version of the game.

After two years, a website was created for Seal Online. It had a post announcing the arrival of Seal Online in English to the United States. The English Seal Online was finally released on the 19 November 2007 at 8pm EST by YNK Interactive.

Seal Online is mostly a point-and-click MMORPG; movement, combat, and many other commands are all controlled by mouse, though the combo system is done with the A, S, and D keys. The player can choose from 7 different classes to start with. However, if the player chooses to start with the Beginner, he/she can choose to job change into the other 6 classes when he reaches Level 10. 21 additional new classes were added in early 2009. The game experienced a wipe on the 27th of September 2010 bringing all players back to level 1.

Seal Online's travel system uses a method called 'Warp Gates'. These gates, located in various towns, allow the player to move to other maps. Players may use scrolls, set revive points, use the Wagon Driver NPC, or just type out a Teleport command for a small fee to warp to different maps.

Players can learn skills to trade, open or join a guild after completing a quest, open a chat room, create a party to fight monsters more effectively, open an in-game bank account to hold or collect more items and money, nurture a pet, do quests, and fish.

Seal Online's level up system uses a point method. Skills level up with skill points. Each time a player levels up, they receive a set number of skill points and status points, which they then may use to strengthen their character.

The Combo System is more complicated than most other MMORPGs. As a player attacks an enemy, the XP bar fills up. Once the bar is halfway filled, the player can start a combo by pressing the game's combo buttons. After starting a combo, players must press a combination of buttons. Combos do more damage than normal attacks, and are executed faster.

Players can choose between seven initial classes which are Beginner, Warrior, Knight, Mage, Priest, Jester, and Craftsman. Each classes have its ups and down and can be upgraded to a 2nd classes if the requirements are met.

To be blunt, Seal Online involves a bit of grind and some may find it repetitive. Most of your experience points will come from simply beating monsters in the map. The good thing is that Seal Online offers very fast leveling ladder. Leveling in Seal Online is simply easy, wherein Levels 1-10 can be achieved in less than 10 minutes by doing special series of quests. From Levels 16-32, leveling can be done within a 20 minute interval, if the players know what they are doing.

Most of the quests involving killing scores and scores of the same monster over and over. Practically all quests in the game are collection quests. You go beat up monsters, take the loot, and bring it back from some money, experience, and fame. As your fame goes up, the difficulty of the quests increases, requiring you to go after harder monsters.

Combat in Seal Online is a unique one since it is based on the attack speed of the characters; players can either attack fast or slow depending on their attack speed. While some describe the game as a point and click game, players will soon find out that they will need to use hotkeys in order to survive as well. Interesting enough, useable items and skills have its own cool-down speed too, which means that there will be some delay between using them depending on the power of the item and skill.

Normal attacks in the game mainly follow one animation. For melee classes, however, players obtain the ability to attack via combos at level 10 and beyond. Combo is what makes melee characters great. Combos are very powerful than single attacks and are very fun to watch. Combos greatly improve the player’s attack speed, damage, and use 0 AP. As long as the player’s combo meter is full, combos can be activated using A, S, D, and even by pressing two of the keys at the same time. There are many different combos available; and as the level of the combo skill gets higher, the longer and more powerful the combo becomes. But there is a specific path for combos, so players cannot just press random A, S, D keys to achieve a 1-hit combo. Memorizing all the patterns of attack may be hard, but it makes the game more fun and enjoyable.

Another interesting bit about Seal Online is their speed party system. In the speed party system, players can simply click and search through a list of formed parties by name, the party leader, the area, and how many members it allows plus how the experience rate is distributed. Another thing is the party leader’s ability to be able to summon fellow party members to their area which is quite convenient until the players reaches Level 30, in which a fee is implied to the person wishing to be summoned.

The game uses cartoon graphics. The characters appeared to be chibi although their head are proportional to their bodies.

For a cartoony graphics, they were drawn well. If you zoomed in on the characters, creatures, NPCs and objects; they appear fairly “sketchy” making the pixeled edges stand out quite noticeably.

The environment is nice, and the game even cycles through night and day every so often.

Despite the dirt and grasses being graphically defined, the graphics are better than what can be expected from a free-to-play game.

Seal Online features a Relationship System. Right click on a character of the opposite gender and the player can have the option to request a relationship with that character. When in a relationship, the characters sleep together to gain bonus items after a certain number of “days” of being in a relationship. The sleeping animation also changes as the “days” go by.

Seal Online also features a good Friend List system. The Friend List provides much convenience in itself, allowing the players to see who is or not online and with a few clicks gives them information about their friends including their level, class and what area they are in. Players can also create different groups in their friend list if they want to separate them for whatever reasons.

In some MMORPG kill stealing [KS] is a big issue. But in Seal Online, KS is not much of a problem. The community is very nice on this factor. Intentional KS is rarely seen in this game, if some instances happen it is because 2 people were going for the same monster. However, people always back-down out of courtesy to the player who landed the first hit.

Seal Online also features a dynamic Forum community, wherein novice players can find guides and advices to help them in their character development from either the game developers or expert players. Players can also ask for technical support, as well as advertise for guild recruitment in the Seal Online forum. All in all the Seal Online community are very nice and helpful, and its often the community that determines the real success of a game.

Martial Heroes

Get ready to dive into the world of Martial Heroes, and for all of you who think that this is "just another free, anime MMO", you are desperately wrong, my friend. Martial Heroes features huge, extensive worlds, (yes, it's not all just on one map). Worlds include dark dungeons, open fields, snowy mountain caps, lava pits, sand dunes, and bustling cities. Much more indepth then most MMOs, there are weekly guild and faction wars, war zones, and pk safe zones. Lots of players and guilds, plus two side to go (lawful and evil) make for one thrill of a ride as you dive into the realm which is Martial Heroes. On a side note, Martial Heroes is free to play and pledges to ALWAYS be free to play. It will never become pay to play. The graphics are little short of unbelievable. These graphics would pass inspection even in a game in which you would have to buy, or subscribe to. They are around that of Dungeon Siege, if you guys are familiar with that game. Perhaps a &q
